Coloring the History of Gig Harbor

“Coloring the History of Gig Harbor" is a children's book featuring engaging illustrations and informative text that highlights important events, landmarks and figures from the city's past and present. Not only does it promote a greater appreciation of Gig Harbor's history and cultural heritage among young residents, but it encourages children to engage with the city's history, develop an interest in learning, and increase youth access to art. The coloring book will also provide a fun and educational activity for families, schools, and community groups, creating a stronger connection to the city of Gig Harbor.

The coloring book project launched in 2023 and we are excited to announce the return of the cover art contest for 2024. Youth applicants in grades K-12 are eligible to apply and one lucky winner will have their artwork printed on 4,000 copies of this free book and distributed throughout the community! All submissions must be received by May 1st 2024.
